Παράλληλα, με αναφορά στους νέους και στις νέες, ανέπτυξε και παρουσίασε τους πέντε βασικούς άξονες πολιτικής που, κατά τον ίδιο, θα πρέπει να ενσωματωθούν στις προεκλογικές δεσμεύσεις.

Η νεολαία μας πάντοτε ήταν και πάντοτε θα είναι, η αιχμή του δόρατος της παράταξης μας!
Ο πρωτοστάτης στη μάχη για την ελευθερία και τη δημοκρατία.
Η δύναμή σας αποτελεί πηγή ανεξάντλητη από την οποία παίρνουμε και εμείς δύναμη για να συνεχίζουμε.

Περάσαμε τα δύσκολα. Μπροστά μας ανοίγεται μια ιστορική ευκαιρία. Ξεκινά μια νέα εποχή ανάπτυξης.
Είναι ριζωμένη η πεποίθησή μου ότι η χώρα μας έχει τεράστιες δυνατότητες και προοπτικές, αντίστροφα ανάλογες με το μικρό της μέγεθός.
Αυτές τις δυνατότητες θέλουμε να απελευθερώσουμε.

We will also contribute dynamically to the adoption of the policies that will affect the Cyprus of Tomorrow.
Based on our Clerical principles and values, our strong foundations, to face the future with hope. To succeed in liberating our country. To reunite our Cyprus. To make it prosperous and safe for all its citizens.

The most positive sign in a country that believes in its strengths is that its young people have a strong voice. And that voice must be heard.
You can provide the necessary constructive criticism. To propose solutions and bring forth vision. To take a stand and express it in the loudest voice possible. That is your challenge.

I want your judgment, criticism and ideas.
That is what the Democratic Rally and I personally expect from you.
My job is to keep my ears open. To translate your word into action, with the sole focus on the welfare of the citizens and the progress of the country. The future of the new generation and every generation to come!

You all know that just yesterday I submitted to the relevant organs of our party my intention to run for the Presidency of the Republic.
But I will not talk to you about it. This is not the place.
You know me well anyway.
But I will tell you one thing that comes from my 30 years of experience in politics and applies to life itself:
Never pretend to be something you are not.
Never shirk responsibility.
Never hide.
Never hesitate to jump into the fire when that is what your conscience dictates.
Be the people of action. Of initiative.
Of action to change what hurts us.
What holds us back, what frightens and annoys us.
Be open to any opinion, criticism, questioning.
Ready for any confrontation.
And always ask to be judged by the real and meaningful outcome of your actions. And by the benefit that this result brings to the country.
No one comes out of battles unscathed. There will always be personal and political costs.
But, friends, a hundred times the front line of the struggle is preferable to the luxury of the armchair.
Women and young men,
We owe our youth too much.
And to your generation even more.
Over the past decade, successive crises have deprived you of much that is very important.
But you have every right to face the world with dignity.
Be proud and optimistic citizens.
Full of appetite and dreams for the future.
So it is time to give you back the hope, the perspective, the opportunities you deserve to have.
I set out today five key policy pillars for our country's young people, which I believe should be built into our election commitments:
First, new jobs. Jobs with a decent wage and long-term prospects. Everyone has a right to a future. And the future includes new occupations along with the old ones. As it requires that our young people be given every moral and practical support to enable them to harness their professional and entrepreneurial creativity.
Second, affordable housing. Rents are high and the situation needs to be addressed. If we want our young people to be weaned from their parents' homes. If we want them to live on their own, live together, raise a family, we need to do something drastic. So I am proposing a rent subsidy and first home purchase for our young people.
I have specific policies and specific proposals for reasonable rent and affordable housing for our young people that I will detail in the coming weeks.
Third, encouraging youth entrepreneurship. There are new ideas from fresh minds that need to find their way into the marketplace. All must have access to digital technology and innovation, which are prerequisites for new wealth creation. The fourth industrial revolution must be ours.
Fourth, support for the young working woman. The slogans of equality are beautiful. But they must be accompanied by actions that break the glass ceiling. With financial and other incentives to eliminate visible and invisible barriers that hold back women's careers. That continue to present young mothers with the dilemma of having to choose between family or career.
Second, which has relevance to the previous one. The necessary support for the new family and especially the new working mother in the daily struggle to raise her children properly. I know first hand that mothers have no choice in childcare. And grandparents are not an option that a serious state should encourage.
That's why we need daycare centers with extended hours and close to workplaces. They need full-day schools, classes and activities in school in the afternoons. Above all, lots of specialised incentives and strong support are needed, which will actively encourage young families both in the birth of each child and in their upbringing.
New and Young,
I have not, deliberately, referred to the need for widespread education reform. The need for a modern education system that does not incessantly send our students to tutorials but provides them with the necessary knowledge. Most importantly, to cultivate critical thinking to enable them to face the complex challenges of the world as it is now shaping up.
And that is because education reform is one of the key pillars of our pre-conference dialogue, which is ongoing. We cannot build the Cyprus of the next day unless we first have a more solid and modern foundation in our education sector.
Dear friends,
I will not tire of repeating: grand visions do not fit in divided homelands.
We deserve to have grand visions. Our homeland demands that we use every opportunity we have to make it whole and prosperous again.
This must be the national challenge for all of us today.
The vision to finally progress peacefully, to move forward into the future with freedom, democracy, dignity and security throughout our Cyprus. This is what we strive for and we state unequivocally that despite Ankara's constant provocations, we remain committed to finding a solution.
Our goal is a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, EU principles and values and the acquis communautaire. Μια λύση που θα επανενώνει πραγματικά την Κύπρο και θα την αποκαθιστά ως ένα σύγχρονο ευρωπαϊκό κράτος με μία και μόνη κυριαρχία, μία και μόνη διεθνή προσωπικότητα, μια και μόνη ιθαγένεια.
Την ίδια ώρα όμως χρειάζεται και κλίμα συναίνεσης. Να φτάσουμε μαζί στον τερματισμό της κατοχής. Για να απαλλαγεί η πατρίδα μας από την τουρκική δεσποτεία. Για να προχωρήσει η Κύπρος ελεύθερη, ενωμένη και ευημερούσα στον ευρωπαϊκό της δρόμο.

Σε αυτό το δρόμο θέλουμε τη νεολαία μας να είναι περήφανη και δυνατή.

Μαζί να προχωρήσουμε μπροστά.

Στο συνέδριο ΝΕΔΗΣΥ παρευρέθηκε απόψε ο Πρόεδρος του Δημοκρατικού Συναγερμού, Αβέρωφ Νεοφύτου. Κατά την ομιλία του, ο Πρόεδρος του ΔΗΣΥ, αναφερόμενος και στην εξαγγελία του για υποψήφιος Πρόεδρος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας ανέλυσε μία σειρά από έργα, στρατηγικές και αποφάσεις της Κυβέρνησης για αντιμετώπιση των διαφόρων προβλημάτων που αντιμετωπίζει ο τόπος.
