He called on Russia to end the war in Ukraine and withdraw its forces from there in new statements, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

He added, however, that the Alliance will not send troops or fighter jets to support Kiev, as it does not want to become part of the conflict.

"(Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin has shattered peace in Europe" and the "Alliance condemns the violent and unjustified invasion of Ukraine," Stoltenberg said during a visit to Poland's Lashk air base, accompanied by Polish President Andrei Duda.

At the same time, the NATO Secretary General accused Belarus of helping Russia in the invasion.

"NATO is a defensive alliance, it does not seek conflict with Russia. Russia should immediately stop the war, withdraw all its forces from Ukraine and commit in good faith to diplomatic efforts," he concluded.
