No end to family tragedies
Entire families of unvaccinated are now being wiped out. In the space of just a few hours, the 74-year-old father and his 48-year-old daughter have passed away, while the mother is also hospitalized with coronavirus.
Mourning in Myrkinos Serres, where a 48-year-old woman and her 74-year-old father, both unvaccinated, ended up a few hours apart with coronavirus.
A few hours after the 48-year-old woman was buried, the death of her father became known. At the same time, the mother and wife of the deceased is being treated in hospital and is fighting to keep herself alive.
Vaccination coverage to date in the prefecture of Serres reaches only 53%, one of the lowest rates nationwide.
After the frequent deaths of young people, some have finally decided to get vaccinations. 1500 vaccines a day is the highest number that can be done by vaccination centers.
Unvaccinated father & son "passed away" from coronavirus
Right next to Myrkinos, in Mavrolofo Serres, another family tragedy.[/p
Not long ago a 28-year-old unvaccinated man was defeated by coronavirus with his 60-year-old unvaccinated father fighting his own battle in hospital, and never being told of his son's loss.
In less than a month the 60-year-old father was also defeated by coronavirus.
"Fear prevents them from getting vaccinated."
The mayor of Nea Zichni Serres, Pantelis Bozis, spoke on the show Κοινωνia Ora MEGA.
"There were two cases in two neighbouring villages, in one case the son "left" and then the father, and in another family the "daughter" left and then the father. We need to be vaccinated. We don't have data for every village. There are definitely unvaccinated. Efforts are being made to inform people both on the part of the EODY and with the assistance of the municipality. Home vaccinations are being done for people who cannot move," Bozis said.
"From what I have discussed with the unvaccinated, it is mainly fear that deters them. There are naysayers, though. There are many cases. Some appointments are now being made for first vaccination," he added.
