Support and rehabilitation services to more than 1.800 unaccompanied children have been provided by the humanitarian organization "Hope For Children" CRC Policy Center (HFC) since its founding, while The Children's House has provided services since 2017 to more than 1,565 cases of minors for whom cases of possible sexual exploitation and abuse are being investigated.

In a statement today, on the occasion of International Children's Rights Day, Hope For Children stresses that it works in policy development and makes interventions where its experience and expertise contributes to the field of child protection.

It stresses that children are the future of society and that the state must equip them to grow up knowing their rights.

At the same time, it adds that there is a need to provide children with appropriate means and services so that they can seek the help they need when their rights are violated.

According to Hope For Children, since its inception to date, it has provided support and rehabilitation services to more than 1,800 unaccompanied children through Hope Homes and the Semi Independent Living Programme.

In addition, the Children's Home, which through its inter-agency and multi-agency management of cases investigated for possible sexual exploitation and abuse of minors, has offered its services to over 1,565 cases since its inception in 2017.

As highlighted, the humanitarian organization "Hope For Children" since 2008 has been and continues to stand by thousands of children defending their rights, implementing multi-level programs related to the defense and promotion of their rights, prioritizing their well-being, education and prevention of any kind of violence against them, as well as their psychosocial and legal support.

"Since its establishment, the Agency's actions have been guided by the standards and principles of the United Nations International Convention on the Rights of the Child and European law. Over the years, HFC has embraced children who have experienced abuse and abandonment, and who have found hope again in the hands of Hope For Children's people who, with their direct intervention and support, contribute to the rehabilitation and relief of their traumas," it says.

It also adds that "as part of its information and awareness-raising efforts, the organisation is implementing actions aimed at spreading the rights of the child to the wider public and to children and specifically states that in September 2022, the young HFC Ambassadors from America International School Cyprus created the "Passport to Your Rights" booklet, a printed publication in child-friendly language, which includes all the rights of the child as stipulated in the relevant UN Convention.

In addition, it notes that its work continues with the support of more than 380 foster families[/B] through the Foster Families Programme implemented nationwide, and more than 6,000 families with the provision of basic necessities.

Finally, it states that through the implementation of experiential non-formal human rights education activities for children of all age groups, it has educated more than 300,000 children through activities carried out inside and outside school settings.
