Health Ministry announcement on AKEL reports on the GenSy
The Ministry of Health issued a statement after the press conference hosted by AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou on the GenSy, during which he said that the Health Plan continues to come under attack, which, he said, is mainly expressed through the instrumentalisation of existing problems, weaknesses and gaps and scaremongering about its financial viability, in order to intensify the questioning of its character and structure.

In its statement, the Ministry informs that what was mentioned at a press conference of AKEL on the three years of the life of GESY will be discussed at length at the meeting of Minister of Health Mr. Michael Hadjipandela with the leadership of AKEL scheduled for next week.
"The position of the Ministry of Health is clear. The YESY is the greatest social achievement, since it is a reform that has been a demand of society for many decades and which became a reality with the political will of the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, serving thousands of citizens per day."
Our attention, he adds, is focused on addressing any problems recorded, and by extension on its continuous improvement and upgrading, without changing the philosophy of the System.
"With regard to the problems mentioned by AKEL, the Ministry of Health informs that actions have already been initiated by the Health Insurance Agency, which, among other things, will contribute to limiting abuses within the System, will regulate the remuneration of Personal Physicians, but will also assist in the inclusion of new innovative drugs to ensure that patients' treatments continue uninterrupted and to facilitate beneficiaries' access to services and doctors," it concludes.
