The Minister of Interior will hold a series of bilateral meetings in Vilnius, Nikos Nouris, in an effort to inform his counterparts and EU officials about the situation in Cyprus regarding migration flows.
Specifically, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Nouris will inform the Ministers and Commissioners, who will also participate on 20 and 21 January in the European Conference on the management of external borders, about the extremely aggravating situation in our country, the problems and peculiarities due to the existence of the Green Line.
Upon his arrival in Vilnius this afternoon, Mr. Nouris will have a meeting at the Lithuanian Ministry of Interior with his counterpart Agne Bilotaile, while before the working dinner he will meet the Danish Minister of Interior, Mattias Telsfaye, with whom he will discuss, among other things, the Syrian issue.
Tomorrow, after the morning visit of all Ministers to the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, he will meet in turn with the Czech Minister of Interior, Vit Rakusan, the Greek Minister of Migration, Notis Mitarakis, the Dutch Minister of Interior, Van der Burg, and the Austrian Minister, Gerhard Karner.
The Interior Minister's contacts will culminate on Friday afternoon when he will meet with the European Commissioner, Ylva Johansson, and the Head of the Directorate responsible for the financing of migration infrastructure projects, Monique Pariat, with whom he will discuss the progress of the Republic of Cyprus' request for funding for the two centres in the Lakes.
The Minister of Interior will make statements together with the Ministers of Lithuania, Greece, Austria and Poland at a joint press conference at 16.00 Cyprus time on Friday afternoon.
