Mineh Atli is the new chairwoman of the Communist Party of the Republic of Cyprus as of today, after being elected at the extraordinary electoral congress held in occupied Nicosia.

According to T/C media reports, the unopposed candidate Doga Yaltsin withdrew his candidacy and thus Atli was elected without the election procedure.

In her speech she emphasized the federal solution and the need for peace on the island. She spoke out against the Turkish "embassy" in the occupied territories, which she said was turned into a headquarters during the "presidential elections" and spoke of people who were even threatened for their jobs. He noted that while there were indiscriminate interventions in the will of the TCs, there is a puppet at the negotiating table today.

"Peace, solution, federation. One homeland, one country. We are not going to abandon these words, there can be no political road that will take us away from this goal. Our ultimate goal is a bicommunal, bi-zonal, bi-communal, federal Cyprus," Minne Atli noted.
