[BR]Nine people were killed in Ciudad Juárez, northern Mexico, in two attacks launched during an all-night vigil and then at the funeral of a man who was murdered, the local prosecutor's office said yesterday, Saturday.
The first shooting attack targeted during Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning the house where a vigil was being held for the deceased by his relatives. Three people died in it.
The body of the deceased was then taken to a temple yesterday, where a group of armed men interrupted the funeral service and opened fire, killing six other people.
The victims are six men, two women and a child.
Two people were also wounded in the two attacks, the prosecutor's office in the state of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, said in a statement.
Ciudad Juárez, which is on the U.S. border across from El Paso, Texas, is one of the most violent cities in Mexico.
More than 1,400 murders were recorded there in 2021, the majority of them in bloody clashes between rival drug smuggling gangs
