Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphos clarified whether he supports Nikos Christodoulides What he says about Averoff's candidacy "They are using our name, because we are appreciated by the people" he said in a recent speech

Attempting to clarify his position on the upcoming presidential elections, Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou publicly commented on the rumors that he supports Niko Christodoulides, while also commenting on the candidacy of Averof Neophytou.

Speaking to believers as is his custom and asked if he supports the candidacy of Nikos Christodoulides along with other high priests, he replied, "and why not Averof's at least Averof has a sense of humor like me and says Cypriot lines?"

He went on to suggest that what is being said that he supports Mr.Christodoulides in an attempt by some to exploit, as he said, the esteem in which he holds the people.

"Lies, lies, lies especially with Mr Christodoulides we met only once when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs and he gave me some promises, the man did nothing. If they say such things it is a big lie. Nor am I anyone to say to you who come to the speeches or who I confess to, that you should vote for Averoff, Christodoulides, Mavroyiannis, or Achilleas. They use our name because we have an esteem in the world."

He went on to say, "Christodoulides was with Averof in the same government that passed all these atheist bills. Why didn't Christodoulides stand up when he was a minister, or now that he is a candidate and differentiate himself?"

He added that "with these bills, the family, the homeland, the nation is being destroyed. The day before yesterday we had a bill for sex change for 50 euros, did any Christodoulides or any Averoff stand up to tell us, where is the family going?"

I personally will take a stand if I find a candidate with independent strength among the people, who will be a critic of the corruption we are experiencing on a large scale and especially of all the bills of the new world order, he said.

"I think that Christodoulides is of the new world order, he does not represent something different."

"I think that Christodoulides is of the new world order, he does not represent something different. I hear that he goes to confession and communion. Maybe Averoff can do this thing and he has a sense of humour" he concluded.
