In eastern Finland, in the municipality of Kontiolahti, the "meteorite" emerges from the forests as a mysterious dark object. The three-storey house designed by the architectural firm Ateljé Sotamaa is made of wood and consists of a series of open rooms that are interconnected and integrated into the natural surroundings.

Inside the polyhedral-shaped house, a 10 square metre skylight atrium with a skylight offers an unobstructed view of the starry night sky. And those living in the house can enjoy the stars by sailing on a catamaran net placed under the skylight at a height of seven metres from the ground.

"Meteorite is not a large house, but inside it represents a completely new three-dimensional idea of organising living space," explains Kivi Sotamaa, co-founder of the architectural firm.

"The Meteorite is not a large house, but inside it represents a completely new three-dimensional idea of organising living space," explains Kivi Sotamaa, co-founder of the architectural firm. "n contrast to traditional houses where each room has a specific predetermined use, the architecture of 'Meteorite' supports more dynamic relationships between its inhabitants and a variety of living situations. Digital design and new construction and prefabrication technologies enable the creation of unique, highly aesthetic ecological wood buildings that add experiential value to their locations," he adds.

For his part, Ahti Rantonen, a managing director at Vahanen Group offering civil engineering competence consulting for landmark projects such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and the Music Center Musiikkitalo in Helsinki - expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Ateljé Sotamaa; he expressed, while expressing the hope that "n the future there will be more opportunities to work on high-quality construction projects with wood, regardless of their location. Important parameters such as low carbon footprint and healthy building are included. Having excluded all man-made materials, the experience of living in 'Meteorite' will be very close to an experience in a traditional tree-trunk house."
