A skilled pickpocket did not hesitate to steal the former chancellor's wallet, Angela Merkel, while she was shopping in a supermarket last Thursday accompanied by her bodyguards.
According to Bild reports, Merkel allegedly placed her purse in her shopping cart. In a moment of inattention, the attacker managed to snatch her purse.
Her bodyguards were unable to prevent the theft.
The 67-year-old Merkel herself reported the incident to a nearby police station in the area.
