MEP Loukas Fourlas calls for immediate measures to protect the property of farmers in Deneia

Urgent question calling for immediate measures to protect the property of European citizens from the Turkish army, submitted to the European Commission by DISY and EPP MEP Loukas Fourlas, following the new provocation by the Turkish occupying army, this time against defenceless European farmers in the border region of Deneia.

Specifically, settlers, with the help of the occupation army, entered the dead zone with their animals with the aim of destroying the carob plantations that Greek Cypriot farmers had cultivated in the area, says a statement by the MEP, noting that "as he suggests, this tactic of the Pseudo-state and the occupation army is well known, as they have used it very often in the past".

"As a result of the new challenge, the destruction of 2000 carob trees out of 2500 that had been planted by Cypriots, i.e. European farmers in the dead zone of Deneia" adds Mr. Fourlas.

He also recalls that "the border area is European territory and Turkish settlers are carrying out pre-planned and instigated destructions", stressing in conclusion that the destructions are carried out by an army of an accession country which receives billions of euros annually from the European Union.
