Addressing the French people against the background of the war in Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron announced the holding of an EU summit on 10 and 11 March in Versailles.[/B]

The French president warned that Russian troops continue to bomb the Ukrainian capital and many refugees are fleeing to neighboring European countries.

At the same time, he added that France was stepping up its investments in the defence sector, but gave no further details.

The French president hailed the courage of the Ukrainians who faced a war that was entirely the work of the Russian president. "The days ahead are likely to be increasingly difficult," he added.
