On February 24 in the Plenum of the Parliament the reform of Local Self-Government Extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Internal Affairs next Monday
The decision of the Parliamentary Internal Affairs Committee to recommend to the Speaker and the Speaker of the House of Representatives that the bills relating to the reform of local government be put before the Plenary of the House of Representatives for a vote on February 24, with a request to the meeting of heads that there be no prospect or possibility of postponement as provided for in the rules of the House of Representatives, Committee Chairman Aristos Damianou announced.
Today, the penultimate meeting of the Committee on Local Government Reform Bills concluded. As Mr Damianou said after the end of the meeting, "due to insufficient time to complete the process today, we have set the last meeting of the Commission for next Monday, when the issue of the scenarios around mergers and clustering will be clarified at the Commission level."
According to Mr. Damianou, at today's meeting "it was decided to propose to the Speaker and the Speaker of the House that the bills be put to a vote on Thursday, February 24, with a request to the Conference of Chiefs that there be no prospect or possibility of adjournment as provided for in the rules of the House."
