In recent years Lidl Food Academy has gotten us used to creative Saturday mornings, which not only fill our lives with deliciousness and pleasure, but also fill us with valuable knowledge about nutrition, cooking and the role of food in our everyday life. From this month, the Academy takes the next step and offers the same knowledge and pleasure to children under the auspices and support of the Cyprus Association of Dietitians & Nutritionists.
Something new now takes place in the Academy building every Saturday afternoon - the Creative Workshops for little chefs, i.e. creative cooking classes for children. Through the two classes that the Academy offers every Saturday, one at 3pm for children 6-8 years old and one at 5pm for children 9-12, our young friends have the opportunity to develop their social skills, get familiar with cooking and baking, but also to become aware of their nutrition, learning important things about food waste and the origin of food.
The Psychologist/Special Educator Christiana Kythrayotou is responsible for the courses, together with her educational team, consisting of two pre-school teachers, while the Academy's dietician - nutritionist is also on site. During the classes, parents can discuss with her and learn about nutrition issues and how they can improve their family's eating habits.
The classes cover a wide range of topics, such as My Children's Party, Truffles with Cookies, Art and Taste with Vegetables, Italians for a Day, etc., which introduce children in a fun, educational and creative way to healthy, quality nutrition and the world of culinary art. Of course, like all the Academy courses, the Little chefs series is open to everyone within the specified age range, offered free of charge by Lidl Cyprus, and conducted using quality ingredients that anyone can find in a Lidl store.
All health protocols are observed in the courses and Lidl Cyprus offers participants a free rapid test before each workshop. The workshops are already very popular and as places are limited, selection for participation is by lottery.
