Letter to UN Secretary General from TC platform in favour of abstaining from "elections" What they report
Letter to UN Secretary General regarding the upcoming early "parliamentary elections", a movement and two TC political parties have sent a letter to the UN Secretary General calling on Turkish Cypriots to abstain from Sunday's "electoral" process.
According to an update from the Federal Cyprus Movement, the T/C movement, the United Cyprus Party and the New Cyprus Party said in their letter that "Turkey has transferred population by committing a war crime in the territory it conquered through its military intervention on our island. In this way, it has altered the demographic structure in the occupied area."
The letter goes on to refer to Ankara's interference in "electoral" contests, saying that "with the recent presidential elections the interference has taken on greater dimensions".
"In the [UPCOMING] elections it is not possible that a will that will lead us to a federal solution will emerge from the ballot box," the letter to the UN Secretary General concludes, calling for the immediate resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus problem.
The letter addressed to the UN Secretary General was delivered to the UN during an event held at the Hydra Palace.
