It will award scholarships to around 140 Turkish Cypriots
The launch of the European Union's scholarship programme for the Turkish Cypriot community for the academic year 2022 2023, which will award scholarships to around 140 Turkish Cypriot students, graduates and professionals was announced by the European Commission.
The scholarship programme is funded under the assistance programme for the reunification of Cyprus, through which the European Union has been providing financial assistance to the TC community since 2007, with the aim of promoting EU values and an enabling environment to further develop trust, dialogue and cooperation between the two communities and to help integrate the TC community into the wider EU.
Since 2007 to date over 1,800 people in the Turkish Cypriot community have received scholarships.
This year again the programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as short-term programmes, including internships and language courses in EU Member States.
As noted in the announcement, the priority areas are the same as last year and include topics related to COVID-19. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit applications for the specific areas, for which they may receive additional points during the evaluation and a higher chance of receiving the scholarship.
Applications will be accepted until 17 April 2022 at 23:59 Cyprus time, via the website https:/apply.abburs.eu and for further information interested parties can contact euscholarships@abburs.eu.
The EU scholarship scheme is fully funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council.
