There are no plans yet for talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, the spokesman for the head of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said.
"No, not yet," Peskov replied when asked if Putin plans to hold talks with Zelensky after the Russian-Ukrainian talks began yesterday.
Meanwhile, Putin was briefed today on the results of those talks. "Certainly the President has been briefed. It is too early to give any assessment, we would not want to do this prematurely," he said during talks with reporters.
According to Peskov, the Russian president's aide Vladimir Medinsky personally presented Putin with the results of the dialogue.
The negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in the Gomel region of Belarus lasted about five hours. According to Medinsky, the participants in the dialogue managed to find some points on the basis of which common positions can be envisaged.
The next round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine will take place in the coming days at the Polish-Belarusian border, according to Aleksandr Lukashenko, who appeared "cautiously optimistic" about their final outcome.
