Parliament's involvement in the government's decrees on the pandemic, Z. Koulias What he said on the sidelines of the Institutions Committee

The involvement of the Parliament in the decisions on the measures taken by the Government on the pandemic was called for again on Wednesday by MP Zacharias Koulias, who registered this issue for discussion in the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions.

In his statements on the sidelines of the Institutions Committee. Koulias said he believes that the measures taken by the Government on the pandemic should also be approved by the Parliament for the purpose of ensuring human rights and the rule of law and the provisions of the Constitution.

The matter has been registered in the Institutions Committee for discussion under the heading "The necessity of the approval of the measures taken by the Government on the pandemic should also be approved by the Parliament for the purpose of ensuring human rights and the rule of law and the provisions of the Constitution."[/P

As Mr Koulias noted, the European Parliament has adopted serious resolutions according to which citizens should not be required in a coercive manner to undergo medical procedures for which they do not agree.

"Citizens cannot be divided into categories of vaccinated and non-vaccinated or attempts to blackmail certain groups or to oppress someone to undergo a medical act for which they do not agree," he said in particular.

He explained that for these issues there is a general provision in the constitution and the Infectious Diseases Act, but noted that from 1960 to date it has not been implemented.

Koulias expressed the view that at the moment with the pandemic "the government with its decrees is affecting constitutional rights of citizens," adding that "there must be legislation and Parliament must be involved."

"It is the obligation of Parliament to cooperate with the government on such issues, but there must be an institutional and legislative framework," he added.
