Russian bombing is preventing the evacuation of civilians and aid to Kiev, Mariupol, Sumy, Kharkiv Volnovakh and Mikolaiv, Podolyak stresses shortly before the start of crucial talks

The Ukrainian negotiator and adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, Mikhail Podolyak today called on Russia to stop attacks on civilians at the start of a third round of talks with Russian officials on Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

"In a few minutes, we will start talking with representatives of a country that seriously believes that large-scale violence against civilians is an argument. Prove that this is not true," he tweeted.

Russian bombing is preventing the evacuation of civilians from Kiev, Mariupol, Shumi, Kharkiv, Volnovakha and Mikolaiv, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said this afternoon.

"This prevents the safe passage of humanitarian corridors for Ukrainian and foreign citizens, as well as the delivery of medicine and food," it said in a statement.

The ministry urged foreign leaders to force Russia to observe a ceasefire to prevent what it said was a humanitarian disaster.

Russian and Ukrainian delegations have just started a third round of talks in Belarus, Russia's Interfax news agency reported.
