The new, all-electric model of Kia scored a total of 279 points, with the Renault-Mégane-E-Tech in second place and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in third.
This is the first time in the history of COTY, a European institution that has been counting since 1964, that a Korean company has left the hall with the first prize! What made the judges cast their vote for the EV6 is the combination of an intelligent electric system with excellent fast charging capabilities, impressive, true driving range, a spacious, high-tech interior and an exterior design full of curves.
The COTY jury chairman said: "It's a nice surprise to see the Kia EV6 receive this award. It was about time the brand and the Group were rewarded as they have worked very hard on this car. The rate of progress Kia has been really impressive."
Jason Jeong, President of Kia Europe, said among other things: "It is a great honour to win the Car of the Year 2022. The EV6 is an exciting sign of what is yet to come in our evolving electric range."
