The justice reform bills will be submitted to the plenary for a vote certainly before the summer holidays, the Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, DISY MP Nikos Tornaritis, said after the Committee's meeting on Friday. Tornaritis said that the bill on the reform of the judiciary was seen today and next Wednesday there will be the positioning of the parties and next week there will be the possibility of filing amendments by the parties.
He noted that all parties, political bodies and the competent institutions of the judiciary must accede to this law.
He also said that the European Commission's report on the administration of justice in EU member states was published today and Cyprus is at the bottom of the list.
"Justice that is not delivered as soon as possible is not justice", he said.
He added that the bills will definitely be brought to a vote before the summer holidays and said that everyone should take their responsibility before Parliament, but more importantly before society, and explain their position to Cypriot citizens.
At the same time, he said that the Legal Affairs Committee discussed on Friday the issue concerning volunteer forest firefighters, the article-by-article discussion ended, and it will be submitted for a vote in the plenary session of the Parliament.
As Torinaritis said, it is known that with climate change, forest firefighting is extremely important.
