Johnson's "apology" What he said about the Downing Street coronation "There are things we didn't do right and I have to take responsibility."
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has apologised for attending the garden party at his Downing Street residence during the lockdown in May 2020 and said he understands the anger this has caused.
"I want to apologise. There are things we didn't do right and I have to take responsibility."
What he said about the crown party
"I know they feel anger with me about the government I lead when they think that in Downing Street itself the rules are not being followed by the people who make the rules," Boris Johnson told the House of Commons.
"I went into the garden shortly after 6pm on 20 May 2020 to thank the staff teams before returning to my office 25 minutes later to continue working," he said."
In hindsight, I think I should have told everyone to go back to their desks, he said.
However, comments have already begun to be made about the British prime minister's sincerity in apologising and talking about mistakes only after the matter went public.
Very striking that @BorisJohnson speaks again and again of "mistakes made" & "mistakes we made" but he can't bring himself to add the word "I". Begs the question is he apologising for his behaviour, that of his staff or just how things look?
