The Israeli Health Ministry announced yesterday that 52,600 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 3,218,391.
At the same time, 20 patients succumbed due to complications of COVID-19, bringing the death toll of the new coronavirus pandemic to 9,180.
The number of patients hospitalized in serious condition decreased to 1,235 (-28 in 24 hours).
The so-called active cases decreased to 323,911. The test positivity rate fell to 28.16%.
Cases of BA.2, sub variant of Omicron, doubled from 350 on January 31 to about 700 yesterday, authorities said.
