Ioannis Kasoulides takes over as Foreign Minister
Ioannis Kasoulides succeeds Nikos Christodoulides as Foreign Minister,[/B] following the resignation of the latter and his departure from the post of head of Cypriot diplomacy on Tuesday 11 January.
The confirmation ceremony of the new Foreign Minister before the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, will take place at 11 am at the Presidential Palace.
The appointment of Mr. Kasoulides was announced on Monday by the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, noting that the resignation of Mr. Christodoulides greatly saddened him but that he had no choice but to accept the resignation following the developments.
Mr. Kasoulides served as Foreign Minister in the government of Glafkos Clerides, taking office in April 1997. He was put in charge of Cypriot diplomacy for the second time in the government of Nicos Anastasiades in March 2018, and was succeeded by Nicos Christodoulides in March 2018.
