The presenter spoke about everything on the show "He and the other"
Ioanna Maleskou was last night's guest on ERT's show "He and the other" and spoke about everything.
"2021 for me was a transitional year... Big changes started in my life," Ioanna Maleskou said, talking about the past year, while at another point she referred to the competition that exists in television, saying: "I like competition and not competition. I don't like anything that has a negative connotation and anything that can bring out your bad self and not flatter you. But I am very competitive with myself... I was happy that Eleni Menegaki was back on TV because there was a lot of talk about my arrival in Athens."
Direct, spontaneous, serious and relaxed where I can be
"My directness, my spontaneity and my willingness to bring out the good side of guests and topics," Ioanna Maleskou said that these are the things that characterize her and continued by stating:
"I am a person with different elements. Where I need to be more serious I am very serious, where I can be more relaxed I bring out more of myself... In the first year I went through a process of feeling that I am not quite myself either. The infamous chef is me 100%. Everyone who knows me knows it's me. It was a very spontaneous move that I didn't expect to take on so much dimension. Spontaneously I thought for a theme very nice to try it myself, I had never danced oriental before. After the whole thing was blown up by some people I got bitter. But I thought to myself that not everyone is ready to see what I'm thinking... I think after that I wouldn't do it again. My spontaneity was very much curtailed after that... There are a lot of topics that if I were editing the show I wouldn't put on the show but they are topics that people have shown they love. They are more gossip topics."
The ratings and how much she cares
As for the ratings numbers she said: "The numbers affect me as they affect all people who are on TV... I'm more interested in the content being robust and measured.... Here in Athens, I learned that you have to keep trying and if something catches on, you have to keep doing it."
The rivalry with Katerina Kainourgiou
But the discussion also included a reference to her rivalry with Katerina Kainourgiou and the statement she made through her show.
"It was a spontaneous move. I really hadn't seen it but when I hear and am informed that something not so elegant has been said I have to see it. Something can be conveyed a little differently. It's not nice to have an attack on a show that is right across the street. I don't regret anything because I didn't say something that wasn't true. I have no regrets. I haven't spoken to Katerina. We follow each other on instagram but we haven't met like we do with most people. We haven't communicated. I didn't think there was any reason to communicate personally but the matter ended and everything is fine," Ioanna Maleskou said.
Her experiences as a teacher and the pageant
Then Ioanna Maleskou talked about her first year as a teacher in Crete and the difficulties she faced there. She even said that she has many stories from that time that she tells to her friends and relatives and one day she wants to write them down in a book. Through it all, Ioanna Malescu revealed that many times because of her appearance she was misunderstood as well as her intentions and had to fight to gain the respect of the people there.
A little later in 2013 she entered the beauty pageant, something that happened when she was still a teacher. Back then, she said she didn't see things as cunning. But now, if she were to turn back time, she wouldn't. Something else that she said she would change is some clothing choices she made in the past that were considered provocative while she said the mistakes she has made in her life have not harmed anyone and were all about her.
Nikos Moutsinas and their relationship
At another point she referred to Nikos Moutsinas saying: "Nikos's show in a certain zone deals with whatever television there is. Among all those people who have been shown is me. I get annoyed when something is done with the intention of belittling you. If I felt something was being done to insult me I would have positioned myself differently. I would humorously look at things that I was putting on a plate. Either through the medium of my spontaneity, or from things that might be connected. At the time, I remember there was a nice connection made between the station I was at the time and SKY and I had responded positively. Because it was a beautiful and respectful communication, that's why I continued to have a good relationship with Nick even before I met him. For some people I have to be grateful to Niko, that bothers me. It's empathetic. Niko and I are TV neighbors, we are not in constant communication but he gave me a very nice advice."
When she tried to lose weight
A little later Ioanna Malescu also talked about the period she went through being a student that in trying to lose weight she put her body through a very bad process creating problems that fortunately she discovered early on.
I mind people talking about me
"I don't like the tendency we have to find out a person's very personal things. I like to learn pleasant things about people but what you choose to share... I mind people talking about me, what always bothered me when they talked about my personal life is that they were charging me with faces and trying to intrude on my very personal life. Right now I am very calm and when I want to post something about my personal life I will do it in my own way..." she said of her personal life.
