The quantity of cannabis was found on 15 November at around 11am.00 at noon, when members of the police stopped the vehicle driven by the 25-year-old for a traffic control on a road in Nicosia.

After a drug test, to which the 25-year-old driver was subjected, it was found that he was driving under the influence of drugs, while in a subsequent search of his car, cannabis, weighing 500 grams, was found and seized, resulting in the 25-year-old being arrested for an indictable offence.

Examinations subsequently conducted by members of the Drug Enforcement Agency - YKAN, for the quantity of cannabis revealed evidence against the 23-year-old. He was located yesterday and arrested on a court warrant by members of the YKAN, while on Friday morning, he was brought before the Nicosia District Court for the issuance of a detention order. The Court approved the Police request and issued a five-day detention order

against the suspect, for the purpose of police examinations.
