As unacceptable, MP Kyriakos Hatzigiannis described the military attack against Ukraine as unacceptable, during a discussion at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).The session took place yesterday in Vienna.
[/P]According to a statement by the Parliament, Mr. Hatzigiannis called on the parties involved to return to diplomacy and negotiation dialogue, expressing serious concern about the humanitarian impact of the conflict.
The current crisis, Hatzigiannis pointed out, is not local, but has wider global implications and, therefore, the entire international community must contribute to ending it.
Hatzigiannis underlined the need to protect the OSCE Special Observer Mission in Eastern Ukraine, both in terms of their personal safety and the role they play.
Also, the statement added, in his intervention at a joint meeting of the three CSC Committees. OSCE, Mr Hatzigiannis referred in particular to the extremely difficult situation in which the Ukrainian people find themselves. He appealed for an end to hostilities and stressed the urgent need to send humanitarian aid.
Moreover, on the sidelines of the Winter Meeting, Mr. Hadjigiannis, in his capacity as the OSCE CSO Special Representative for Civil Society Participation, held a meeting with Dr. Walter Rosenkranz, Member of the Austrian Board of Governing Commissioners. During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the issue of civil society participation in the decision-making process.
