Incidental chase in broad daylight on the Limassol-Lekosia highway,[/B] when the driver of a vehicle refused to stop at the signal of a police officer who was on patrol.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly before noon on the Limassol-Lekosia motorway, when a police officer on patrol noticed a car driver driving dangerously at excessive speed on the motorway.
The officer signaled the driver to stop for inspection with the latter developing a speed, close to 180 kilometers per hour.
The pursuit ensued when at a point just before the entrance to Nicosia, that is, before the junction of the motorway with Limassol Avenue and Athalassa Avenue, the driver of the vehicle lost control and collided with a vehicle in front of him.
The police officer following him proceeded to check the driver, who however assaulted the member of the police,[/B] who then proceeded to arrest him.
At the scene, members of the Nicosia Traffic Police conducted investigations into the circumstances of the traffic collision, while the Latsia Police Station is investigating a case of traffic offences and criminal offences relating to the assault on a police officer.
No person was injured in the traffic collision.
