The most Kremlin-friendly leader in the EU saw his Fidesz party win 53.7% of the vote to 34.4% for the six-party opposition alliance, with 86% of the vote counted, and declared victory

Hungary's nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, won again (for the fourth time) at the polls in Sunday's parliamentary elections and in his speech sent a message not only to the European Union, with which he openly disagrees on sanctions against Russia, but also to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

"We will remember this victory until the end of our lives because we had to fight against a huge number of opponents: the local left wing, the international left wing, the Brussels bureaucrats, all the money and institutions of the Soros empire, the international media and the Ukrainian president as well. We have never had so many opponents at the same time," Hungary's 58-year-old prime minister told his supporters in Budapest."

The most Kremlin-friendly leader in the EU saw his Fidesz party lead with 53.7 percent to 34.4 percent for the Alliance of six opposition parties, with 86 percent of the votes counted, and declared victory.

The figures translate into a strong parliamentary majority, with Fidesx securing 135 seats out of 199 in the Hungarian parliament.

While Hungary eventually backed most of the EU sanctions that had been revealed so far, Orbán was adamant that the measures did not extend to imports of Russian oil and gas. Most of Hungary's oil and gas imports come from Russia.
