How Omicron may bring an end to the pandemic Microbiology professor Alkiviadis Vatopoulos estimated that it should end this year

Great care in family gatherings was recommended by Professor of Microbiology Alkiviadis Vatopoulos. He said those who gather at the holiday party should have had all three doses, rapide/self tests on the day of the holiday or on Parade and after the weather is good, the place should be ventilated.

"Seniors with a chronic problem would be advised not to attend," he added.

This is a marathon for the community as it is the third year. "The pandemic is here and our weapons are vaccination and pharmaceuticals."

He estimated that it should end this year. He even called it a realistic scenario for Omicron to mark the end of the pandemic.

As he explained, speaking on SKY's midday newscast , there will be too many cases and therefore immunity will increase, the point is not to lead to too many deaths.

"We can hope that it will end but we should not relax," he said.

On the measures announced, he said they are right but it depends on the acceptance and how they will be implemented. "They are realistic, people will accept them and we will move forward."

He further commented that it is a big debate whether the measures should be brought in earlier as he pointed out it is between what is acceptable in society and what is right health-wise. There is no question in his opinion about transferring before or after. The professor focused on the faithful observance of the measures by citizens.

For schools, he referred to the meeting of experts next week.
