The complainants revealed how they would pay for their stay He told them to leave the dog in the car He threatens to sue the couple for slander, he told protothema.gr
In emergency situations it seems that both the most despicable and the purest human characteristics emerge. Some transcend themselves, putting the common good first. They help their fellow human beings, while others express incredible pettiness.
Yesterday was no exception. Drivers had gotten out of their cars to help other drivers from bad weather . Young people joined forces in the height of the blizzard to extricate a car. There was no end to the small acts of kindness that shone through even in such dire circumstances. But there were also the opposite examples, or at least reports of such. One couple, after hours of trying to clear the road under their house, realized that one of their benefactors had stolen their shovel. Others spoke of aggressive behaviour manifested by drivers honking and swearing before they too came to a standstill soon after at the same spot.
But one complaint that flooded social media and spread with incredible speed is this: a woman who was stranded yesterday in Abelochori near Thebes complained to the owner of the Philoxenia Hotel that he refused to provide her and her partner with room services because of the pet they had with them. When they complained that they could not leave the dog, he urged them to leave it in the car with air conditioning.
Eventually they were forced to sleep in the car. When protothema.gr contacted the hotelier, he threatened to take legal action against the couple for slander. He wanted to make it clear that he offered them a shovel and everything else they needed, but the dog was barking and would "stir up" the whole hotel. He even professes to be a dog lover and doesn't understand what the problem is. "I didn't have to have a dog in my hotel," he said."
