A shocking bullying case involving a 14-year-old girl from Thessaloniki, who experienced mental abuse and humiliation from her peers, is being revived today in a juvenile court.
The unthinkable incident took place about two years ago when the girl, then 12 years old and a student of the A Gymnasium, met a classmate who suggested they go for a walk in the park after the first day of school.
There, her classmate allegedly took a photo of her, which was then used in fake profiles on social networking accounts with the 14-year-old's details.
How the calvary began for the 14-year-old
As it subsequently emerged, naked photos - of unknown origin - were uploaded to these profiles without a face showing. In fact, the perpetrators did not hesitate to send erotic messages to other users, implying that they came from the 14-year-old girl.
Thus began the Calvary for the 14-year-old girl and her family. As the mother of the 14-year-old girl describes to Voria.gr, as soon as they became aware of the offending material with the girl's details, they immediately turned to the Public Prosecutor's Office to find the culprits who subjected the child to this torture. Investigations led to the girl's classmate, who reportedly admitted her involvement in the unthinkable act, and according to the 14-year-old's mother, there are other children who were circulating the fake material and have admitted it.
Shocking descriptions from the girl's mother
Today, the 14-year-old's mother is calling for those who caused her child so much pain to be punished. According to her, lack of education both at home and at school and impunity are what allow such unacceptable behaviour to survive in society.[/P]The girl is on the autism spectrum and found it difficult to make friends, as not only were other children marginalizing her daughter, but her parents wouldn't let them talk to her "because autism sticks!"
The mother's descriptions of the impact the shocking incident had on the 14-year-old's psyche are shocking. In addition to being bullied, the young student was also bullied by the rest of her classmates and even confided to the only girl she had hung out with since elementary school that she even had suicidal thoughts.
