A 20-year-old man from Turkey[/B] caused a disturbance at the Welfare Office in Kato Polemidia in Limassol yesterday at noon.

It was around half past two in the afternoon when police were informed that the person in question, despite being advised to leave the place as the office had to be closed, he refused and remained there causing concern.

Members of the Polemidia Police Station went to the place where they located the 20-year-old man, an asylum seeker and recipient of assistance, and he was again advised to leave. Then the 20-year-old threatened in front of the police officers that he would burn down the building.[/B]

After the threats the 20-year-old was arrested for the offence of threatening violence and was taken into custody.

The Polemidia Police Station is continuing investigations.
