Two drivers are hospitalized at Limassol General Hospital after a road collision that occurred last night in Limassol. Police tests revealed that one of the two had five times more alcohol in his system than the permissible limit.

The road collision happened around 11pm yesterday on Franklin Roosevelt Street in Limassol. A 27-year-old resident of Limassol, under circumstances under investigation, lost control of his car, causing it to climb the built-up road dividing island, enter the oncoming traffic and collide with a car driven by a 45-year-old, also a resident of Limassol.

Both drivers were injured in the collision. They were taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where they were kept for treatment. It was found that the 45-year-old suffered a fractured sternum, while the 27-year-old suffered fractures of his right ribs.

A preliminary alcohol test was carried out on the two drivers, during which the 27-year-old tested positive, while the 45-year-old had a zero reading. Subsequently, the 27-year-old was subjected to a final alcohol test, with a lower reading of 114μg%, instead of 22μg%.

The causes of the road collision are being investigated by the Limassol Traffic Police.
