Police are investigating a case of drunkenness against a 54-year-old man, disturbance and driving under the influence of alcohol
A 54-year-old man[/B] resident of Deryneia was arrested by police on suspicion of drunkenness, disturbance, disturbing the peace and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As Steve Theodoulou, Press Spokesman of the Famagusta Police Directorate told CNA, "late on Sunday night, February 27, members of the Paralimni Police Station responded to a complaint of a Paralimni resident aged 38 years old, concerning a disturbance caused by a 37-year-old man. Upon the arrival of police members at the scene, a 54-year-old man arrived in his car to ask the 38-year-old to speak on behalf of the 37-year-old since he is a relative of the 37-year-old."
He added that "the 54-year-old, after getting out of his car, approached the police members and started shouting loudly, speaking against the 38-year-old and the police officers." He said he was given instructions, he "did not comply and as a result he was arrested for the offences of drunkenness, disorderly conduct and breach of the peace."
As Theodoulou stated, "54 year was given a preliminary breathalyser test with a reading of 61μg instead of 22μg. The 54-year-old was charged in writing for the offences of drunkenness, disorderly conduct, breach of the peace and driving under the influence of alcohol and was released to be summoned before a Court at a later stage."
The case is being investigated by the Paralimni Police Station.
