Police are investigating a new case of child pornography, members of which proceeded today to arrest a 59-year-old, to facilitate interrogations.

The investigation of the case was launched after information was given to the police by Europol. According to the tip-off, a certain account holder on a social networking platform , allegedly uploaded a file of an image of sexual abuse of a minor on the internet.

From the examinations conducted by the members of the Cybercrime Branch, testimony against the 59-year-old was obtained, on the basis of which a judicial arrest warrant was issued against him.

The 59-year-old was located andarrested this morning, and was subsequently taken to the Nicosia District Court, which issued a four-day detention order against him.

The Cybercrime Branch is investigating the case.
