It was reported yesterday at noon to the Police by a resident of a village in Larnaca district that, while in a field near the paddock he keeps in Larnaca district, he heard a shot fired from a shotgun followed shortly afterwards by the cry of a dog.

According to the complaint, at the scene a 32-year-old man was seen holding a shotgun and entering his home.

The dog returned to the pound where the complainant noticed that he sustained multiple wounds to his body, possibly from buckshot, and after a few minutes, the dog passed away.

Members of the Kofinou Regional Police Station went to the scene, where they conducted examinations and took the dog for a necropsy to determine the cause of his death.

As part of the investigation of the case, a warrant of arrest was issued against a 32-year-old, on the basis of which he was arrested. A search was also conducted at his residence where two shotguns and a bag containing 110 full cartridges of various brands were located and seized as evidence.

The arrested man was taken into custody while the Animal Police continue their investigations.
