For a case of theft of property from a parked car, police have arrested a 31-year-old woman[/B]. The 31-year-old woman was taken into custody for the purposes of investigating the case, with the Paphos Minor Offences Department investigating.
The 31-year-old woman was located shortly after 7.00pm on Monday night, in an apartment where she resides in Paphos and was arrested by members of the Paphos CID, on a court warrant issued following evidence against her for committing the theft.
The theft was committed last Saturday, at around 3.30pm, in the cemetery area of Paphos, where according to the complaint of a 51-year-old woman, she had parked her vehicle. While the 51-year-old woman was inside the cemetery, her handbag, worth €150, two mobile phones totalling €650, her purse containing the sum of €70, her identity card and bank cards were stolen from her car.
Later on Saturday afternoon, the 51-year-old woman reported the theft to the Pafos Central Police Station's Minor Offences Department.
On another occasion yesterday evening, in Limassol, a 63-year-old man reported to the police the theft of his car, worth 3000 euros.
According to the 63-year-old's complaint, his car was stolen shortly after 9.00pm on Monday night, while parked on a road in Limassol, unlocked and with the keys in the engine's ignition.
The case of the theft of the car is being investigated by Limassol CID.
Police advice to prevent theft incidents
The Police, for the purpose of preventing similar theft incidents, urge the public, drivers and passengers of vehicles, never to leave money or other items of value inside their vehicle, even when it is locked.
It is also stressed that, when parking a vehicle, even if stopping for a few minutes, keys should be removed, windows fully closed and the vehicle locked.
