The Limassol District Court issued a detention order for a period of six days against a 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, who were arrested after five kilos of cannabis was found in a vehicle.


The two were arrested yesterday, when members of the YKAN stopped the vehicle driven by the 27-year-old man, with the 19-year-old woman as a passenger, for control in an area of Limassol.

Interrogated, the 27-year-old allegedly admitted the possession of the drugs and that in the past he had sold another, larger, quantity of cannabis.

The chronicle of the case

According to police, while trying to conduct a check, the 27-year-old moved his vehicle forward, causing him to collide with the service vehicle and become immobilized.

In a subsequent search, a nylon bag containing five nylon packets of cannabis totaling a gross weight of five kilograms was located within the luggage compartment of the vehicle.

The two suspects were initially arrested for an offence of their own accord, while warrants for their arrest were subsequently issued against them.



Also, in a subsequent search of the 27-year-old's home in the Limassol district, three full cartridges, a metallic copper pipe and a quantity of gunpowder were found and seized as evidence.

Detention orders were issued against the two suspects for a period of six days for the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to supply to third persons and money laundering from illegal activities.
