An 18-year-old man was detained for impersonation, forgery and circulation of a forged document.
According to a spokesman for the Paphos Police Directorate, at 19:25 a man of African origin presented an Italian identity card to travel to Chania in Crete, however it was suspected to be a fake.
Subsequently he was interrogated stating his true facts, namely that he is from Congo, he is 18 years old, he submitted his asylum application in 2020 and since then it has been pending. Subsequently, the 18-year-old was arrested and taken into custody.
Investigations into the case are continuing by the Paphos CID.
