Handcuffs on illegal aliens in Paphos Two persons detained for illegal stay in Cyprus Pafos Police investigating

Paphos Police have arrested two persons aged 29 and 22 for the offences of illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

According to Pafos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, members of the Pafos OPC located two persons at a residence in Eba who are allegedly in the territory of the Republic illegally.

Specifically, one person is 29 years old whose application for political asylum was withdrawn on 28.9.18 and since then appears to be residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The second person is 22 years old whose application for political asylum was rejected on 26.7.21, did not appeal and since 2.9.21 appears to be illegally residing in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

The 29-year-old and 22-year-old were taken to the Polis Chrysochous police detention centre and placed under arrest.

Investigations are ongoing by the Paphos Police.
