A scheduled telephone communication between the Minister of Health, Mr. Michael Hadjipandela, with the Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, and WHO's Advisor on Infectious Diseases.
During the conference, as reported in a previous report by the Cyprus Times, the data recorded so far on monkeypox were evaluated, while Mr. Adhanom on the protocols established by the Ministry of Health, as well as on the readiness of the relevant services to address and manage suspected or confirmed cases of the disease.

As mentioned, countries should promote vaccination especially of people who fall into the vulnerable groups of the population, but also promote personal protection measures (mask, spacing, hand hygiene).
In addition, Mr. Hadjipandela and Mr. Adhanom discussed the actions being rolled out for the operation of a World Health Organization office in Cyprus, with the aim of upgrading preparedness in dealing with emerging and epidemic-prone Communicable and Zoonotic Diseases[/B].
