Former AKEL MP Dinos Hadjinicolas passed away at the age of 67.
In a statement, the Limassol District Committee of AKEL expresses its deep sorrow.
As noted, Dinos Hadjinicolas was born in Kellaki on 13 May 1955. He studied political science at the University of Macerata in Italy, specialising in political-economic issues, obtaining a degree and then a PhD.
In Italy he served the Cyprus Student Movement in various capacities as he was an active member of the Italian Progressive Students' Movement and a founding member of the Perugia FPC Association.
Subsequently, coming to Cyprus, he worked professionally at the Limassol District Committee of AKEL and subsequently took up the post of District Secretary of the Union of Cypriot Farmers (UCA) in Limassol. In EKA he also served for several years as a member of its leadership as he was a member of the Central Secretariat of the organisation.
He was elected councillor in the Municipality of Germasogeia with AKEL in the period 1996-2001. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Cyprus Table Grape Exports (SEKES) and the Vineyard Products Council (VPC).
Dinos Hadjinicolas was a member of both the Limassol District Committee of AKEL and the Central Committee of AKEL, while he also served as a deputy of the party in the Limassol Electoral District, elected in the period 2003-2011.
As an MP, he served as deputy chairman of two parliamentary committees, the Agriculture Committee and the Environment Committee, while he was also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade and Industry.
The Limassol District Committee of AKEL expresses its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased.
The funeral of the late Dinos Hatzinikolas will take place tomorrow, Wednesday 12 January at 2 pm.at the Holy Church of St. George in Kellaki.
