Written statement by the Deputy Government Spokesperson Mrs.Nivi Parisinou on Decisions of the Council of Ministers

The Council of Ministers met today under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic Mr.Nicos Anastasiades.[/B]

According to the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Nivi Parisinou, during the meeting it was decided to reduce the period of self-limitation from 14 to 10 days, for persons who are close contacts of a confirmed positive case of COVID-19.

The decision takes effect from 24 January 2022. Release earlier than 10 days can be done by a PCR laboratory test with a negative result on the 7th day after contact or later at own expense.

Also, the Council of Ministers approved the widening and improvement of Cheriou Street, in Strovolos, according to the design submitted by the Municipality of Strovolos. The project will be implemented as an urban planning project, with the cost shared 80% by the state and 20% by the Municipality of Strovolos.

In addition, the Council of Ministers approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus and the Ministry of Health of Greece. The Memorandum concerns, among other things, the exchange of good practices and know-how, with the aim of upgrading the primary health services of the two countries.
