If the Turks legitimize Tymbos, they will have no incentive for a solution and that is when we will be left with partition, George Kolokasidis, candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, said in a written statement, noting that "instead of the government continuing its bankrupt bonanza policy, let it sound the alarm, let it escalate the cost of Ankara's devouring of Famagusta before it is too late."
Kolokasidis asks what return of Famagusta the Foreign Minister is talking about. "The part of Famagusta that is supposed to be returned is only a fraction of the whole city. And this is being returned to the UN and not to the Republic of Cyprus. Finally, this part will be enclosed, surrounded by occupation troops, with all the risks that this entails."
"But the real danger concerns the airport of Tymbou. The Foreign Minister states loudly that the so-called isolation of Turkish Cypriots will be lifted. What isolation? Any isolation of the occupation (not Turkish Cypriots) is a result of the illegality of the occupation and nothing else. Essentially, the Foreign Minister admits that legitimacy will be compromised in order for the occupation airport to operate," he adds.
