[Cyprus Times] From 500 to 4,000 euros in fines in the last 24 hours to businesses for non-compliance

14 citizens and 9 managers of establishments were reported for violation of COVID measures, 3,236 inspections

In the last 24 hours (from 06.00 on Wednesday until 06.00 today), 3,236 checks were carried out by the police nationwide[/B] in order to ascertain compliance with the measures and implementation of the provisions of the Contagious Diseases Act.

As a representative of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters Communication Department told CNA, during the checks there were 14 complaints from citizens and 9 complaints from the managers of establishments.[/B]

Regarding the checks by province, in Nicosia 1.782 checks were carried out without any complaints, in Limassol 282 checks were carried out, which resulted in 12 complaints from citizens and 6 complaints from establishments, in Larnaca 348 checks were carried out, which resulted in 1 complaint from a citizen, in Paphos 92 checks were carried out, in Famagusta 445 checks were carried out, which resulted in 1 complaint from a citizen and 2 premises, in Morphou 115 checks were carried out, without any complaints.

Also, nationwide the Traffic Police carried out 156 checks, without any complaints.

Of the 3,236 checks, 16 involved the Port and Maritime Police, from which no complaints arose.

In response to a question, a spokesman for the Police Headquarters Communications Branch said that the majority of complaints to citizens related to not wearing a protective mask and in three cases involved safepass.

Regarding the six establishments in Limassol, in three establishments an inspection revealed that there was no safepass checking of customers and a fine of €1,500 was issued to each establishment. The fourth sub-store concerned a restaurant, where the manager allowed an employee to work without a safepass and a €1,500 fine was issued; the fifth sub-store concerned a supermarket, where there was no customer safepass check and allowed a customer to enter without a safepass and a €4 fine was issued.000[/B] and the sixth establishment involved a company whose manager allowed an employee to work without a safepass and was issued an out-of-court fine of €500.



In Paphos, the premises concerned an Internet Café, which an inspection showed that the person in charge was without a protective mask and without a safepass, and there were no antiseptics on the computers, and a €500 fine was issued.

In Famagusta, at one sub-store an inspection allegedly allowed a customer to enter without a safepass and a €500 fine was issued, and at the second sub-store an inspection revealed that there were no markings at the entrance and a €4 fine was issued.000.
