The Municipality of Nicosia lit up the Eleftherias Square in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. "A minimal sign of our support is the illumination of Freedom Square in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, participating in the common struggle of all of us to stop the attacks immediately," it said in a statement.
The Municipality says it stands by the citizens of Ukraine, who are being affected by the military operations.
"War, refugeeism, loss, are concepts deeply rooted in the Cypriot people and we could not remain indifferent to this tragedy," it says.
Furthermore, it recalls that the joint effort of all the municipalities of Cyprus to collect humanitarian aid continues.[/B] In the Nicosia Municipality, donations are being collected at the "Old Agora Pallouriotissa" Cultural Centre (7 Agiou Andreou Street).
So far, the response has been moving, according to the Municipality.
