Menios Fourthiotis is finally transferred to Nafplion prison and not to Korydallos.

The change in the original design was made for security reasons. Menios Fourthiotis was arrested on Tuesday morning due to a violation of the restrictive conditions imposed on his release in October 2021.

The chronicle of his arrest

According to reports, the 36-year-old was informed - apparently by his lawyer - that due to his decision to systematically violate the restrictive conditions imposed on him in October 2021, when his conditional release was decided, a warrant was issued for his re-arrest, he took the initiative to appear voluntarily at the Public Prosecutor's Office. The presenter's apparent aim was to show good will and to argue that due to mobility problems he was not appearing three times a month at the Athens Prosecutor's Office.

In court, Fourthiotis was duly informed that his pre-trial detention was decided by a warrant as he was not appearing, as he should, at the police station three times a month, as stipulated by his restrictive conditions.

The presenter pleaded mobility problems, but was arrested as provided by law.

The charges against him

It is recalled that Menios Fourthiotis was accused - among other things - and based on the case file, of involvement in the case of shooting against police officers of the IS team in Nea Erythraia.

In particular, the prosecutor's office previously prosecuted him for the formation of a gang (misdemeanor), instigating the aggravated possession and carrying of weapons (felony), instigating the explosion and carrying of weapons (felony), instigating the use of weapons (misdemeanour), instigating the supply of explosive bombs (misdemeanour), instigating aggravated assault, attempted extortion, false report and provocation and offering to commit a misdemeanour offence.

New indictments for fraud, forgery and "dirty" money

Meanwhile, indictments for the offences of fraud against the State, money laundering, forgery and forgery of false certification have been formed by the Justice against Meniou Fourthiotis according to a document of the Economic Crime Department of the Athens Appeals Prosecutor's Office.

The data was transmitted to the Parliament by the Ministry of Justice after a question from the SYRIZA parliamentary group asking if "Has the investigation of the financial police been forwarded to the financial prosecution and if so, when? If it has not been forwarded, why is it delayed and how can this inaction be explained?" It is recalled that Mr Alexis Tsipras, in his intervention in the Parliament, had also left hints claiming that the relevant findings are not sent to the financial prosecution in order not to form a case against M. Fourthiotis.

However, it appears from the document of the Financial Prosecutor's Office that the relevant findings were sent in time.

Specifically, the document states. The above preliminary criminal case file from 14.6.2021 was forwarded pursuant to article 35 par. 1 of the Code of Civil Procedure to the Athens Prosecutor's Office and

B) on the occasion of the case no. Prot. 1040/3/92-a/8-4-2021 of the Directorate of Financial Police, the case no. BM EOE 167/2021 with investigated offences:

1) Fraud against the Greek state with damages exceeding 120.000 euros, conspiracy and repeatedly

2) money laundering from criminal activities

3) forgery and use of forged document repeatedly

4) misuse of false certificate repeatedly

4) misuse of false certificate repeatedly which from 2.2.2022 was forwarded to the Director of Financial Police with an order to conduct a preliminary examination in order to obtain an anonymous explanation."
