According to the Cyprus Times, Andreas Gavriilides had been experiencing heart problems in the previous period and it is possible that his death was related to them.
He served as Mayor of Germasogeia from January 1, 2007 until December 31, 2016, when he was succeeded by current Mayor Kyriakos Xydias.
